Privacy Policy

Prairie & Pier ("we," "us," "our") is a curated marketplace for Texas-made goods. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what's needed to run the marketplace, we don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising trackers.
1. What We Collect
- Account information — name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash) when you register. Sellers additionally provide a store name, city, and zip code.
- Order information — your name, email, and shipping address when you make a purchase, so the seller can fulfill your order.
- Messages — anything you send through our contact form, seller-message forms, or listing-report forms.
- Reviews and wishlists — content you choose to post or save while signed in.
We do not collect or store your payment card details — payments are handled entirely by Stripe (see below).
2. How We Use It
- To process orders and pass shipping details to the seller fulfilling your purchase.
- To send transactional email — order confirmations, sale notifications, account approvals, and password resets. We do not send marketing email.
- To respond when you contact us, and to review reported listings.
- To operate seller accounts, including payout onboarding through Stripe.
3. Who Sees Your Information
- Sellers — when you buy, the seller sees your name and shipping address so they can ship your order. That's the point of a marketplace.
- Stripe — processes all payments and seller payouts. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Service providers — we use Resend to deliver transactional email, Amazon Web Services to store product images, and Railway to host the site. Each receives only what's necessary to provide its service.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information with anyone, ever. We may disclose information if required by law.
4. Cookies
We use only essential cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and remembers your cart, and a security (CSRF) cookie that protects forms. There are no advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep order records for accounting and dispute purposes. If you'd like your account deleted or want a copy of the information we hold about you, email us — we'll handle it promptly. Note that completed order records may be retained where required for tax or legal purposes.
6. Children
Prairie & Pier is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
